Hi, I am using mac mail to read all my emails from my website and gmail on the road from my iphone. is there a way to set gmail (or mac mail?) to show the gmail messages as read once I have read them on mac mail through mobileme? Right now, I have to log into gmail to read them all again after I have read them on macmail. It would be great to only have to read and respond, etc. once from macmail. thanks!

If you tell mail.app to always BCC you on every email you send, you'll see your sent email appear in your inbox. When someone responds, Mail.app will connect the dots and thread your convo together.

This does duplicate the email, though, so you'll still see the email in your Sent folder but there's a setting under "accounts > [your imap account] > mailbox behaviors" that lets you clean out your Sent at whatever frequency you want.

boom, done, real gmail-esque conversation-view in Mail.app. Now to figure out how to get a keyboard shortcut to 'Move to > All Mail" and you'd have the whole gmail experience in mail.app

With iCal.app and Google Calendar no syncing is needed, simply add the Google Calender as an "account" and you're done.

Add it as CalDav with URL as follows:

https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/%username%/user (Gmail username and password will be needed)

For Google Hosted / Google Apps, username is full address, i.e. me@mydomain.com, i.e. https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/me@mydomain.com/user

For email, no sync is happening at all. Or I should say: IMAP, the email client/server protocol, already comprehends sync so there is no mobile.me sync needed. So you can access your Gmail (IMAP) folders from two Mac's and an iPhone (I do) and everybody has a consistent view. Your Gmail tags show up as Apple Mail (Mail App) folders. Drag/drop a message to "apply" that tag.

Regarding the calendars ... check out BusySync. It's cheap, and it automatically syncs iCal and Google Calendars on your desktop mac without any trouble at all.

It sounds like they're also working on the capability to sync contacts between Address Book and GMail.

Sweet stuff.

Been there, done that, with a slightly different approach. I (tried to) keep all the work mail on company's IMAP server while using Gmail for personal stuff. I have all my accounts setup on Maill.app on the mac and iphone and setup mobile sync with .Mac - that way I can do most of my mail on the mail app on the mac and read new mail on the road. Although I find myself using Gmail in a browser every now and then if I'm looking for something specific - gmail's search on the web is still better for large mailboxes. Everything works really well except one thing:-

I see duplicated mails in smart folders in Mail.app - quite annoying if you use it to nail down stuff that you want to see.

My 2c.
