just installed the pukkadita bookmarklet and found it doesn’t work at all with google reader with safari or firefox. firebug returns the following error message: “t.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes.item(1) is null”

it does work properly when not using greader. thanks.

mkay Justin and everybody — that last comment constituted a brain f*rt. I’ve tweaked the pukkadita bookmarklet (on this page) with the recent fix I made to the Gordita bookmarklet and verified pukkadita is working fine on Safari Version 3.0.3 (522.12.1), WebKit Safari WebKit r25773 was built on 27 September 2007, and Firefox Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.7) Gecko/20070914 Firefox/2.0.0.7.

So Justin, there appear to be two problems here. First, if you’re using the new Safari as I am (Safari 3.0 beta) then you may notice that while Reader works, it never highlights the “current” article in a blue outline. This is indicative of the fact that id=’current-entry’ is never getting applied in the DOM. If you have a look at the pukkadita bookmarklet you’ll see that’s the key. Without that, you get a vanilla link to Google reader which is not what you want.
If that were fixed you’d have the next problem described in the comments on Gordita and fixed in a September 27, 2007 tweak to that bookmarklet.
Dunno how to fix this Safari 3 beta problem. Any ideas?
